Acclaimed Scarborough artists Angela and David Chalmers have united their talents to create a short film about the South Cliff Gardens for the Heritage Open Days. Working together as ‘Chalmers Creative’ the artists consider the Gardens to be their own front garden, as they live on the Esplanade above.
The work celebrates the lives of two great Victorian visionaries – George Lord Beeforth the creator of the Rose Garden and Mary Craven benefactor of St Martin’s Church.
This wonderfully impressionistic film combines David’s photographic talents and Angela’s artwork based on her art residency at St Martin’s Church. They live in what was once Mary Craven’s house.
